Where is the masseria and how do I get there?
The masseria is at Via Madonna del Passo 98, in Specchia (Lecce), in Lower Salento, only 400 metres from the centre of the village of Specchia. The nearest airport is Brindisi, 102 km away. By train you arrive at Lecce station, 53 km away. You need a car to get around Salento and reach the beaches.
Can I walk to the historic centre of Specchia?
Yes. The masseria is 400 metres from the historic centre of Specchia, which you can comfortably reach with a stroll through the streets of the village.
How far are the beaches?
From Specchia you can reach both the Ionian and the Adriatic seas: Marina Serra (Adriatic) 12 km, Torre Vado 17 km, Santa Maria di Leuca 19 km, Gallipoli 36 km, Otranto 39 km.
Is the location convenient for visiting both coasts of Salento?
Yes. Specchia is strategically placed to reach both the beaches of the Ionian Sea and the Adriatic coast. It is an ideal base for exploring Lower Salento and choosing each day the coast best suited to the wind conditions.
Is it better to choose the Ionian or the Adriatic coast?
It depends on the kind of day you want to have and on the wind and sea conditions. The Ionian coast is known above all for its sandy beaches and sunsets, while the Adriatic coast fascinates with its wild cliffs, coves and seabeds ideal for snorkelling and diving. Specchia’s position lets you choose comfortably between the two coasts.
What can I do in the surrounding area?
You can explore the villages of the hinterland and dive into the sea of Salento: cliffs or sand, everything is a few minutes away, with opportunities for snorkelling and diving. You can reach the “Finibus Terrae”, Santa Maria di Leuca, or go trekking along the many trails that can be explored on foot or by bike. On summer evenings you can dance the pizzica and visit the countless village fairs and patron-saint festivals with their great festive lights, eating the specialities of Salento. Or you can rest in our large garden in the shade of the big trees, cooling off with a dip in the pool to recharge your batteries before visiting Salento. You will find some ideas on the Specchia and Salento pages.
